On Friday 8th of April, Centro Incontri della Provincia of Cuneo, in collaboration with the international magazine of landscape architecture PAYSAGE-TOPSCAPE hosted the international event dedicated to “PARCO PARRI: the project of the contemporary park as an engine of development” - the event promoted by Cuneo municipality. The aim of the event was to create a panel discussion regarding the relationship between parks and suburbs and about the urban redevelopment topics, with a specific focus on requalification of Parco Parri.
After the official opening of the park, the municipal administration started new discussions with several Italian and foreign cities regarding the potential of urban landscape projects. Covered topics were related to city relation with water and nature and the potential of ecosystem services from an economic point of view.
During the event, national and international speakers, working in the urban redevelopment sector, and engaged in the administration of urban green areas, were hosted. Paolo Viskanic, the CEO of R3GIS, presented "Ecosystem services of urban green: calculation and enhancement", to have a deeper understanding about the activities carried out by the VerdeVale and LIFE Urbangreen projects and the developments of the GreenSpaces software. In fact, both projects allowed to carry out in-depth research and to collect useful data in order to enhance GreenSpaces functionalities and tools for the innovative management of urban green areas and the calculation of ecosystem services.
